Introduction

Math is a process formed mentally by human. This case makes the math abstract. It includes the processes of intuition, aspiration and induction. Besides the usual practise fields in physical science, Math whose usage increases permanently in new branch of knowladge such as biology and social studies. Especially, the latest developments in computer technology for last few years lead to infancy of mathematical fields. Mathematic Department is designed like that it will prepare its students to the study of graduate in Math, Naturel Science, Social Studies and the related fields of engineering taking all these into account.

Education:

Our University has gained a community 1 January 1993 being founded as called “ZONGULDAK KARAELMAS UNIVERSITY” in Zonguldak with the Law No 3837 which has come into force being published in 11 July 1992. Devrek Faculty of Science and Letters started its education in Zonguldak center campus in 1993-1994 education year. Our department is one of two departments which swang into action in The Faculty of Science and Letters in 1993-1994 education year with Physic department. In our department,education and instruction studies are maintained in faculty building with 4500 square meter in Center Campus.

Objectives of Our Undergraduate program:

  • S/he will be able to decide and solve scientific problems,
  • S/he will be able to keep pace with new developments,
  • S/he will be able to analyze scientific searching process systematically,
  • S/he will be able to contribute to some of the lower maths fields and that fields’s informational savings.

Academic Staff

1 professors, 4 associate professors, 9 assistant professors and 7 research asisstants, total 21 faculty members are still working in our department.
